SELF-PORTRAIT in the ABSENCE Our lives are oftentimes defined by our memories and memories are a series of moments that capture our lives and frame the emotions that surround them. Since I left my hometown of Moscow 10 years ago I have always wondered how my life would have been if I stayed. /Self-portrait in the absence/ is a reconstruction of memories I've never had; it is a collection of everyday moments that could have become my memory of long Moscow winters when one's attention shifts inward to endlessly revolve in the circle of self-reflection. In this work I attempt to use memory like a medium, looking at the place I used to call home and ultimately questioning my presence in the reality of my own life. %40HOME_SPinA_1.html
